The people causing insecurity in parts of Kenya wants us not to achieve Vision 2030: stop them

The frequent insecurity cases in Northern Kenya, Rift valley and other parts of the country must be stopped forthwith for us to achieve the Kenya Vision 2030 and other developmental aspirations that we are committed to. It has been observed that any time there is a sense of peace and tranquility, and people are back to engaging in some productive activities, out of the blue, some guys cause some murders, destruction of property and displacement of people in these parts of the country. For some time, residents are unbale to do anything or become productive because of such acts of people that I believe are not many but are just people we have knowingly and unknowingly allowed to operate and perpetuate their devious schemes. We must collectively and working with the government stop these people since they want us to continue living in a vicious cycle of poverty by making some parts of Kenya not to continue with national building activities.

Scholars have elaborated on the existing linkages between national security and development. They have concluded that security of life and property plays an important role in the development of the society. They have pointed out that security and the adequate guarantee of the same is a major pre-requisite that nations must undertake so that there can be the anticipated development. There are many causes of such witnessed insecurity that includes: Corruption that allows us to look the other way and hence allow criminals space to operate; injustices brought when people don’t do the right things for others; poverty that we can address by working together; poor healthcare services and facilities that can be developed through partnerships; poor infrastructure developments among others. At the county levels, we should not marginalize some and favour others and by so doing, we can have a just society that is cohesive and ready for take-off and achievement of Vision 2030, which is nine years away. The elites and all of us should work with government to promote employment creation, greater leveraging of our tourism potential and development of effective local investments programmes to ensure that many are gainfully employed and hence being able to fight poverty. They say in Tharaka that the cry of one person is collective, hence insecurity affects all of us,
